ONE - Connecting to Polaris (Nova) using CoreFTP
- Make sure you are connected to the Internet
via your Internet Service Provider (ISP) before opening CoreFTP.
- Open CoreFTP.
- The Site Manager dialog box should be visible (see image)

Using the Site Manager dialog
box fill in the following information:
- Site Name - Some name you
choose to identify this site. It can be your name or the
name of your course. it doesn't matter.
- Host/IP/URL- polaris.umuc.edu (for
nova account holders: nova.umuc.edu)
- User Name - Polaris (or Nova)
user name.
- Password - Polaris (or Nova) password.
- Remote Start Folder -- www (if you have
subfolders within the www directory, such as admn635, then
you could type in www/admn635).
- Local Start Folder -- Use the browse button
to the right of the text box to select the folder that holds
your web pages.
- Once you have filled you information click on the button.

If you receive an error try typing in the login
name and password again. If you continue to encounter login
problems, your password may have expired. See note below.

Once you click on the button,
the Site
Manager dialog box will disappear and you will
be left with main window. The connection may take a few moments,
so it may appear that CoreFTP isn't connecting to Polaris. You
can tell that a connection to Polaris is being attempted by looking
at the Session Log box.

default, the right window (remote
system) shows the contents of the server (e.g., UMUC's Polaris or Nova server). The left window (local
system) shows the contents of your hard-drive.
